Brake actuators are used on heavy-duty truck and trailer air brake systems to convert compressed air into mechanical force to apply the brakes. When the brake pedal is pressed, air pressure is sent to the brake chamber, which pushes a rod. This rod then applies force to the brake shoes or pads, creating friction with the wheel and bringing the vehicle to a stop.
