Rivet tools (riveters, rivet guns) are used to install blind rivets (Pop rivets), which are a common fastener type used on semi-trailers.
Riveter Types
Hand Riveters
Lever Riveters
Cordless Battery Powered Riveters
Pneumatic Riveters
Hand Riveters
Hand Riveters operate via a lever squeeze. Typically, this type of riveters comes with multiple nose pieces, which accommodate various rivet sizes.
Hand Riveters are appropriate for occasional rivet installation.
Lever Riveters
Lever Riveters operate via a squeeze of two handles, similar to bolt cutters. These riveters are typically more heavy-duty than hand riveters and can accommodate a wider range of rivet sizes. They often include a collection bottle (not shown on the above image) that catches spent mandrels.
Although Lever Riveters are easier to use and more versatile than Hand Riveters, they are still best used for occasional rivet installation.
Cordless Battery Powered Riveters
Cordless battery powered riveters are activated via a trigger pull. Some feature a mandrel catch, while others eject the spent mandrel out from the front of the tool.
A major advantage of Cordless Battery Powered Riveters is that they do not require a hosed connection.
Pneumatic Riveters
Pneumatic riveters are powered by compressed air and able to quickly install blind rivets. These rivet tools feature a built-in catch for spent mandrels.
Pneumatic Riveters are effective for projects that require installing a large number of rivets. However, because they require a hosed connection, their portability can be somewhat limited.
