Jost KKS Automatic Coupling System at Road Transport Expo

JOST

Road Transport Expo 2023: JOST GB presents the next evolution of the KKS automatic coupling system

A truck driver has a challenging job – JOST makes it easier with the latest safety technology and smart assistance systems. In line with the industry trend #jostassist JOST GB will be showcasing the revolutionary KKS automatic coupling solution with the KKS-U Connector as the latest development at the Road Transport Expo. From 28 to 30 June visitors will further experience eco-friendly products (#jostgreen) like the Drum Modular Axle and digital solutions (#jostdigital) at Stoneleigh NAEC. Located on stand G51, other highlights of JOST GB include the EF-S+ electronic steering system, as well as a full overview of the market-leading portfolio of commercial vehicle components, modules and systems.

Jost Automatic Coupling System KKS and KKS-U Connector

Automatic coupling system KKS with new KKS-U Connector: faster, safer, more efficient

The KKS enables drivers to couple and uncouple semi-trailers via remote control without leaving the driver’s cabin, automatically, safely and quickly. The driver is guided through the entire coupling process, with sensor technology providing live information on the KKS remote control throughout every step of the process. For example, the support plate sensor indicates that the trailer plate is touching and the position of the king pin is also monitored by sensors. Climbing out of the cabin to manually open the fifth wheel, cranking down the landing gear and manually connecting the spiral cable, air and brake connections are all a thing of the past for drivers. Time, comfort and safety gains are made possible with just one product. At Road Transport Expo JOST GB will present another innovation of the KKS – the KKS-U Connector: With the KKS-U Connector, existing fleets can be retrofitted with a KKS system without much effort, as it is simply and quickly mounted to the underside of the semi-trailer.

Jost TRIDEC EF-S+

Driving performance with innovations and proven solutions

Another centrepiece of the JOST GB stand will be the Drum Modular Axle (DMA) series. Developed as a direct result of customer feedback, the drum modular axles ensure maximum flexibility for every transport application because they can be combined with suspension systems from the DLS range. The DMA combines a robust tubular axle with a modular leaf spring system, which can be adapted to match the customer’s individual specifications. The most striking feature is the external brake drum design, which allows the brake linings to be replaced without having to disassemble the wheel hub – making it extremely easy to service and maintain. In addition, the proven brake design requires minimal repair effort and offers maximum benefit to customers.

At Road Transport Expo TRIDEC’s highlight will be the EF-S+ which offers electronic steering with the option of controlling additional functions, such as the ramps and lights, remotely. The EF-S+ boasts six additional hydraulic or up to 12 electric functions in a single remote control. It is also possible to upgrade the system with a soft start mode, in order to make the hydraulic movements even more seamless and accurate.

The JOST GB portfolio hence provides the answer to the long semi-trailer legislation which permits longer trailers on UK roads.

JOST Managing Director, Danny Broomfield, said: “We are very happy to welcome the audience at Road Transport Expo and to showcase impressive innovations and proven solutions of the JOST World which encompasses the JOST, ROCKINGER, TRIDEC and Quicke brands. We look forward to making new contacts and meeting existing customers at stand G51.”
