PreSet Plus® SmartHub Among HDT’s Top 20 Products of 2020
VANCOUVER, WA – (Trailer Technician) – ConMet is pleased to announce that the PreSet Plus® SmartHub has been chosen as one of Heavy Duty Trucking’s (HDT) Top 20 Products of 2020. The award will be presented at the American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC20) at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on February 25th at booth #3107.
“Products are chosen based on the level of innovation, ability to address significant industry issues, and potential benefit to the bottom line”, explained HDT. After narrowing their initial list, editors then consulted with a board of executives and managers representing several fleets to arrive at their final selection.
“We are thrilled to be among HDT’s Top 20 Products of the year,” said ConMet’s Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, Beto Dantas. “The PreSet Plus SmartHub is a great example of our commitment to develop technologies that will advance the industry and change the way customers operate and maintain their vehicles,” continued Dantas.
The SmartHub utilizes several sensors directly applied to ConMet hubs that monitor wheel end health indicators, such as temperature and vibration. This data is shared securely through a custom cloud platform, where proprietary algorithms determine health status and relay that information through an open application program interface (API) for viewing through any fleet or OEM’s telematics service provider.
The system enables condition monitoring while in transit, allowing for proactive maintenance measures and ensuring the continued health of wheel ends on the road. Trials have proven the SmartHub’s ability to sense performance anomalies that indicate problems located throughout the wheel end, including in the hubs, tires, and brakes. This increased visibility helps fleets avoid costly roadside repairs, towing, and more serious on-road events such as wheel offs or wheel fires in the truck or trailer.
ConMet is conducting fleet trials in preparation for commercial launch at the end of the first quarter of 2020. At launch, data services will be available through select telematics providers, to be announced at that time.
